AIM "Rules of the Road" for DATA USE

Users of AIM data are asked to respect the following guidelines

  • Mission scientific results are open to all.
  • Guest investigators and other users in the scientific community or general public are encouraged to contact the PI or designated team member of an instrument group early in an analysis project to discuss the appropriate use of instrument data.
  • Users who wish to publish results derived from AIM data are encouraged to offer co-authorship to the PI, Deputy PI or designated team members. Co-authorship may be declined. Appropriate acknowledgement of institutions, personnel, and funding agencies is encouraged.
  • Users are encouraged to heed the caveats of investigators regarding the interpretation and limitations of data results. Investigators supplying data may encourage the user to publish such caveats even if co-authorship is declined. Users are also encouraged to specify data version numbers for the data used in publications.
  • Users are encouraged to widely distribute pre-prints of publications and conference abstracts to interested parties within the mission, members of related projects and the scientific community or general public.
