STATUS:
07.11.08
Spacecraft Status
All spacecraft systems on AIM continue to operate nominally. The uplink receiver bitlock was sporadic during the week.
Instrument Status
SOFIE: A "beta" version of the Release 2 code is currently being tested. This software includes an improved solar source function and new pointing drift corrections applied to the signals in Level 1, and Non-LTE calculations added to the Level 2 temperature retrieval. In-orbit refinements of time offsets and space offsets between bands are in final stages of validation, and will be included in release II.
Meteoric smoke measurements are being analyzed using the latest level 1 data. New corrections for pointing drift and more accurate Rayleigh extinction calculations appear to have made smoke results more accurate and cleaner than those obtained previously. Improvement of continuity (time and space), in models used for interfering extinction, is about finished, and will also be included in release II
CIPS continues to operate nominally. All four cameras are returning excellent data.
CDE is currently working on inserting the noise data into the CDE database. Once this is finished, data reduction time will be reduced significantly.
